Despiteflawsandinadequaciesallaround,thethreearebecominganincreasinglyeffectiveteam,withadditionalhelpfromMonk'spersonalassistant.Fromthedouble-episodepilotthroughthefirsthalfofseasonthree,Monkwasaidedbyhisnurse,SharonaFleming(BittySchram).Butinthetenthepisodeofthethirdseason,Sharonawasreplacedbyanewassistant,NatalieTeeger(TraylorHoward).LikeSharona,adivorceewithasonnamedBenjy,Natalieisasingleparent,awidowwithadaughternamedJulie(EmmyClarke).UnlikeSharona,Natalieisnotanursebutaformerbartenderwithafreshperspectiveon"Mr.Monk,"asshestilladdresseshernewboss.
